国史日:2023年全国竞赛

6月11日, 四年来第一次, a team of 61 middle 和 high school 学生s from across Massachusetts set out to the University of 马里兰, 学院公园, 参加2023年NHD全国大赛. There they joined a group of over 3,000 学生s representing all 50 United States, Washington, D.C., Guam, American Samoa, Puerto Rico, 和 inter国家 schools in China, Korea, 和 South Asia.  你能想象吗?? 年轻人的海洋, 在大学校园里, 为历史而兴奋，准备好席卷全国赛!

Finally, on the last day they participated in a massive parade 和 award ceremony in the UMD Stadium.

We’re now halfway through the fall semester 和 Massachusetts 学生s are hard at work on their 国史日® projects! 国史日 (NHD) is a year-long historical research 和 inquiry project for 学生s in grades 6-12, MHS很荣幸能成为马萨诸塞州NHD的附属协调员. 今年’s theme also offers the chance to highlight the continued resonance of another important figure from the MHS collections, 她刚过完277岁生日! Projects ranged in topic 和 include an exhibit on the Harlem Hellfighters; a 网站 on Comfort Women 和 the Creation of the Korean Council; a performance on the 朋友hip between 阿比盖尔·亚当斯 和 Mercy Otis Warren; 和 a documentary on the Woburn Cancer Cluster.

We are very pleased to report that 64 schools participated in the NHD program this year. 这比去年增加了20%! 在慷慨的资助下 大众文化委员会 和 大规模的人文, we have been able to exp和 the program by offering introductory workshops to new schools 和 will continue this work next year to reach even more 学生s 和 teachers.

We celebrated the 国史日 program at the Massachusetts State House on 22 April, in commemoration of the beginning of public education in America that took place in 1635 with the founding of the Boston Latin School. 州议会的活动是由共和党众议员.
